Description
You're about to step into one of Sheridan, Wyoming's best-kept secrets.
The Buffalo Bill Hideout isn't just a place to sleep — it's a chapter in Wyoming's living history. Tucked inside The Historic Western, a landmark building erected in 1895 when cattlemen, prospectors, and legends like Buffalo Bill Cody himself roamed these very streets, your hideout has been thoughtfully restored to honor that rugged, trail-worn spirit while wrapping you in modern comfort.
Picture this: you arrive after a long day on the road — or a short flight into Sheridan County Airport — punch in your private access code, push open the door, and feel 130 years of Western heritage settle around you like a well-worn leather jacket. The queen bed is waiting. The smart TV is ready for your favorite streaming service. The standing shower is stocked with fresh amenities. And outside your door? Downtown Sheridan's Main Street — coffee shops, saddleries, saloons, galleries, and restaurants — all within a short walk.
Buffalo Bill used to audition Wild West performers right down the street at the Sheridan Inn. He'd ride in from expeditions, rest up, and plan his next big adventure. Your hideout is designed to channel that same energy — a quiet retreat between your own Wyoming adventures, whether that's hiking the Bighorns, exploring King's Saddlery, or just settling into a corner booth at the Mint Bar with a cold drink and a good story.
Managed by Wyo Stays, Sheridan's premier boutique hospitality group, your stay comes with concierge-level service, local expertise, and the kind of personal attention that turns a trip into a memory. We don't just hand you keys — we welcome you into the neighborhood.
Previous guests have called it "convenient," "hands down the best hosting experience," and exactly the kind of stay that makes you want to come back. We think you'll agree.
Your next Wyoming story starts at the Buffalo Bill Hideout. Send us a message — we'd love to help you plan it.
The space
You're stepping into a one-of-a-kind retreat that honors both heritage and comfort.
The Buffalo Bill Hideout occupies a private unit inside The Historic Western — a building that has stood on Sheridan's Main Street since 1895. We've preserved that character while adding every modern essential you need for a restful, connected stay.
The layout is simple and intentional — designed for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, or small families who want a genuine downtown Sheridan experience without sacrificing comfort.

Guest access
From the moment you arrive, the Buffalo Bill Hideout is yours.
You'll receive your personal 4-digit access code before check-in — no waiting in lines, no front desk formalities. Just punch in your code and step inside your piece of Wyoming history.
Getting Inside: Your code first unlocks the common entry behind door "10" in The Historic Western — a shared vestibule where you can step out of the heat or cold. From there, head back outside and around to Unit 20, the Buffalo Bill Hideout, accessed from Works Street. Your same code lets you in.
Parking: You have a dedicated parking spot marked "20 W Works," plus on-street parking and nearby public lots. If you're arriving in an electric vehicle, an EV charger is available through the alleyway.
Laundry: Available upon request through Wyo Stays — just send us a message.
Concierge Services: Grocery pre-stocking, special occasion setups, local dining and adventure recommendations, luggage hold, early check-in or late checkout (based on availability) — anything you need, we're one message away.
Whether you prefer a quiet, independent stay or the full Wyo Stays concierge experience, you set the pace. We're here when you need us and invisible when you don't.
Other things to note
A few helpful notes to set expectations and enhance your stay:
Historic Character: The Buffalo Bill Hideout is inside The Historic Western, built in 1895. You'll experience thick walls, solid craftsmanship, and the occasional creak in the floorboard — that's 130 years of Wyoming history speaking. We consider it part of the charm, and our guests agree.
Climate & Comfort: Wyoming winters are no joke. Your unit is equipped with climate control and we provide supplemental space heaters during the coldest months. The historic building takes a little longer to warm up than modern construction — grab your complimentary coffee, settle in, and let the warmth build. By evening, you'll be cozy.
Wi-Fi: We've invested in an upgraded mesh network system specifically designed to work within the thick, historic walls of The Western. It handles streaming, email, and video calls reliably. If you're planning bandwidth-heavy work, just let us know and we'll make sure you're set up for success.
The Building: All four ground-floor units in The Historic Western are managed by Wyo Stays. Upstairs units are long-term residential. The building is secure, community-minded, and maintained with care.
EV Charger: An electric vehicle charger is available for guest use, accessed through the alleyway. Perfect for road-trippers exploring Wyoming's wide-open highways.
Add-On Services: We offer a full suite of guest enhancements — early check-in, late checkout, grocery delivery, special occasion setups, dining and hiking itineraries, mid-stay cleanings, and more. Just send us a message and we'll take care of the rest.
Your hideout is more than a room — it's a story, a legend, and a retreat where Wyo Stays handles the details so you can focus on the adventure.
